Complete dentures should withstand occlusal forces and wear, but they can develop fatigue and fractures over time. This study shows that incorporating a 3D-printed titanium framework into milled PMMA denture bases enhances their mechanical properties, including higher fracture toughness and lower elastic deformation, compared to traditional milled and printed denture bases.

Milled AvaDent base demonstrated higher flexural strength vs. 3D printed denture bases and conventionally fabricated denture bases, allowing thinner design and reducing effect on speech. PMMA resins remain the materials of choice to fabricate denture bases with high flexural strength.
